Speaker: Theresa Jehn-Dellaport, P.G., CEO, Quantum Water and Environment
Topic: Upper Pierre Aquifer
Abstract: A partially defined and largely unexplored confined aquifer in Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming was identified by Quantum through regional interpretation of geophysical logs, well drilling, coring, petrographic analysis, and GIS. The aquifer is a fine-grained arkosic sandstone, with thickness ranging up to 1000 ft. in some areas. The aquifer represents a significant water resource for ranchers and other development in northeastern Colorado and may be a resource for Wyoming, and Nebraska. Water wells penetrating the entire aquifer have produced up to 200 gpm. Water quality data indicates detections of boron, microbial methane and total dissolved solids. The talk will discuss the process of identification and the regulatory aspects of water rights.
Dinner and non-alcoholic beverages provided. Social hour and dinner begin at 5:30, announcements and introductions at about 6:45, talk will begin at about 7 pm.
